On October 4th 2017, the Military Education Club met for the first time in Mr. Miller’s room. Mr. Miller’s reason for creating the club was to better inform students about the armed services so they are able to make smart decisions when talking to recruiters.  So far, the club has discussed ranks within different military branches, what specific parts of the uniforms are and what they mean, the physical requirements for joining the army and doing physical fitness tests to see how the club members were doing.

Mr. Miller has also given information to the club members on the Marine Corp, the Navy, the Air Force, the Army, and the Coast Guard.

On October 18th, military personnel came in during club day to teach basic training to the club members. They did sit-ups, push-ups, and other physical activities expected of the military.

Mr. Miller can relate to the club, because he enlisted in the Army in 2013. He said, “I joined because I am very patriotic and wanted to do my part for the country.”

He later became a commissioned officer because he felt that he was fit for a leadership role.  A commissioned officer is someone who has gone through training to hold more of a leadership role within the military.

In the future, Mr. Miller would like to bring in other members of the armed forces to provide information on what life is like in the military, what jobs they do, and why they decided to join the military.
