On Wednesday November 15th, Slippery Rock High School held their first annual college and career day for grades 8-12.  Several universities, colleges, trade schools, military branches, unions, and other organizations were invited to speak to the school about.

Guidance counselors Ms. Gallagher and Mrs. Karwoski did much of the planning for the event. Ms. Gallagher said, “The goal of this plan is to provide students with opportunities for academic, personal, social, and career development. The fair was a part of the plan that was given for the high school students, as well as the 8th grade class, with a chance to explore life after high school.”

Some parties that were there included Bowling Green University, Bradford School, Butler County Vocational-Technical School, Clarion University, Cement Mason Union, Builders Guild of Western PA, PA Air National Guard, and the U.S Navy.

When asked how it went, the overall responses from students were positive, but they also had suggestions for how to improve it next year.  Junior Shane Schettler said, “It was nice, but it needed a bit more variety.”
